Education and Skills Development

GLO aims to ensure that every orphan and vulnerable child has access to quality and inclusive education as a pathway to breaking the cycle of poverty. This includes the provision of school fees, uniforms, and learning materials for disadvantaged children, while also working with schools and communities to create safe and child-friendly learning environments. Beyond formal education, GLO will integrate life skills training, vocational programs, digital literacy, and mentorship opportunities to prepare children and youth for self-reliance. By 2029, the organization envisions producing a generation of empowered young people who are not only literate but also skilled, confident, and ready to contribute meaningfully to Malawi’s socio-economic development

Health and Nutrition Support

Recognizing that good health is a prerequisite for learning and growth, GLO will strengthen support systems to ensure orphans and vulnerable children receive adequate nutrition, preventive health care, and psychosocial support. The organization will collaborate with local health centers to provide regular medical check-ups, vaccinations, and HIV/AIDS support for affected children. School feeding programs will be scaled up to combat malnutrition and improve school attendance. GLO will also prioritize mental health and psychosocial care, offering counseling for children who have experienced trauma, neglect, or abuse. By 2029, children under GLO’s care will not only be healthier but also resilient, able to pursue education and life opportunities without being hindered by preventable health challenges

Child Protection and Advocacy

GLO is committed to building a society where children are safe, valued, and protected from all forms of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This objective focuses on strengthening community-based child protection structures, training guardians and community volunteers on safeguarding practices, and establishing referral systems for children at risk. Through advocacy and awareness campaigns, GLO will work closely with government and stakeholders to influence child-friendly policies and laws that uphold children’s rights. By 2030, the organization envisions vibrant, protective communities that uphold the dignity of children and safeguard their best interests.

Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment

The well-being of orphans and vulnerable children is directly linked to the socio-economic stability of their households. GLO will support guardians, caregivers, and youth through income-generating projects, vocational training, and financial literacy programs to reduce dependency and improve household resilience. Initiatives such as small-scale farming, poultry projects, tailoring, and Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) will be introduced and scaled. Youth will also receive entrepreneurship training to build sustainable businesses. By 2029, GLO expects to have empowered over 1,000 households with economic independence, enabling them to provide consistent care and support to children.

Institutional Strengthening and Partnerships

To effectively deliver on its mandate, GLO will invest in strengthening its internal systems, governance, and human resource capacity. This includes building robust financial management systems, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and transparent reporting mechanisms to meet national and international accountability standards. Partnerships will be central to GLO’s work, involving close collaboration with government ministries, civil society organizations, donors, the private sector, and international partners. Through these collaborations, GLO will mobilize resources, share best practices, and scale successful interventions. By 2029, the organization envisions itself as a strong, sustainable, and credible institution that continues to serve orphaned and vulnerable children with excellence.
